Essential Workers in the UK during COVID-19
To counter any confusion the STA and BEIS has drafted a template letter that provides essential workers with proof to show to law enforcement that they are travelling for work, if questioned.
Government guidance has been clear that utilities and electricity workers are essential and BEIS have stated that onsite work should be allowed to continue where necessary and where it can be conducted safely in accordance with the latest public health guidance.
Download the template, replace the wording in the square brackets to make it relevant to yourself or your employee, print a copy and keep in your vehicle or on your person. Of course, social distancing rules must still be followed – the advice is that people should only be in a vehicle by themselves or with a member of their household.
