Whatever the project size
The Solar-Log 1200 unit can work with a PV system with multiple inverters up to a total of 100kWp, and the Solar-Log 2000 will do up to 2MWp.

Monitoring
Solar-Log’s monitoring portal is very well presented and intuitive, with various levels of access for different users. Basic information about the installation is offered in the ‘Classic Edition’.
This is available for free for installations of up to 30kWp. Offer this to customers who want to monitor their own system. The paid-for ‘Commercial Edition’ includes greatly enhanced functionality: data update frequency, better communication with additional email contacts, and an impressive dashboard with customizable color scheme and content. Offer this as part of a commercial-scale maintenance package for your customer.
Power Management and Export Limitation
With low voltage regulations still under development there are likely to be more projects that run into complications when seeking to connect to the National Grid. This also increases the demand for power management solutions on PV installations. Strained local infrastructure might need to be upgraded with associated costs and timescales that might either mean reduced installed capacity, or scrapping a project altogether.
Adding power management equipment to an installation essentially means measuring the exported (excess) power and keeping it to a defined limit. For example, if the DNO stipulates that no more than 10kWp can be exported, but the site consumption is usually much higher than that, putting an export limit in place would allow a larger PV array to be installed to deliver the demands on site. In the event that consumption is low and the PV generation is high, the management system will determine that the excess is too high and reduce the inverter production down to match the limit value. It’s very important that this measuring, calculating and commanding is done almost instantaneously to avoid damage to infrastructure or risking personnel.

What equipment do I need?
Solar-Log’s solution for power management is simple. An energy meter is hardwired to the Solar-Log unit and the Solar-Log relays commands to the inverter(s). The flexibility of Solar-Log means that this solution is now available for almost any PV installation.
The energy meter uses CTs to measure the current values on the supply cable, and it will constantly relay the readings to the Solar-Log unit. The use of RS-485 cables ensures that the inverter production rapidly reacts to any sudden changes to energy consumption.
