GREECE RENEWABLE INCENTIVES
In Greece, electricity from renewable sources is promoted through a feed-in tariff, subsidies a tax exemption and a net metering scheme. Renewable energy sources for heating purposes profit from a tax exemption and a subsidy scheme. The main incentive for renewable energy use in transport is a quota system. GREECE RENEWABLE INCENTIVES
Access of electricity from renewable energy sources to the grid shall be granted according to the principle of non-discrimination. With regard to the use of the grid renewable energy shall be given priority. Grid development in Greece follows a central planning procedure through the issue of MASM (Development Study of the Greek Transmission Grid 2010-2014).
There is number of policies aiming at promoting the development, installation and use of RES installations. GREECE RENEWABLE INCENTIVES

Support schemes
In Greece, electricity from renewable sources is supported through a feed-in tariff. Furthermore, small PV installations (capacity of 10 kW or less) are eligible for a special feed-in tariff. Apart from that, RES are also eligible for a subsidy combined with tax exemption and recently a net metering programme for PV and small wind power plants has been introduced.

Grid issues
The grid operator is obliged to connect renewable energy plants to the grid. Furthermore, the grid operator is obliged to purchase electricity from renewable sources. The connection contract, signed between the grid operator, the plant operator and PPC as the owner of the grid, must state that the grid operator is obliged to carry out the necessary grid development works.

Policies
In accordance with European legislation, Greece has adopted a number of provisions, which mainly address energy efficiency in buildings. Apart from that, there are a number of national programmes whose primary aim is to promote energy efficiency through the use of RES in public or private buildings but which also provide funding for RD&D activities.
