Future Homes Standard UK
Find out why solar is on the Government’s Roadmap. As we all know, much of our energy expenditure comes from within the home. From hobs to hoovers, we are a country dependent on our appliances. All this, however, comes at a cost. As of March 2020, the UK was ranked 16th worst for emissions globally, with much of that coming from our domestic channels.
These kinds of emissions are particularly hard to offset because many consumers already take precautions such as turning off appliances. As a result, the government has sought to explore other options aiming to tackle our high carbon levels.
In line with its 2050 zero net-emissions target, the UK government has been exploring options relating to the efficiency of new builds, as part of its ambitious roadmap to carbon-neutral. This signals a growing appetite for serious action on climate change, and the Future Homes Standard is poised to change building standards across the UK.
Whilst still in the consultation phase, solar PV generation has already been highlighted as a preferred option by the ministry as opposed to increasing fabric standards to an extremely high level, as solar PV would deliver “more carbon savings and result in lower bills for the householder”.
With that in mind, why not consider one of our storage products that could help you secure new business as the Future Homes Standard comes into effect?
