SnapINverter mounting system

The innovative SnapINverter mounting system makes installation and servicing of the 5000W Symo extremely user-friendly. It is not necessary to remove the entire inverter for servicing, just the power stage set compartment. All the cabling, settings and configurations remain in place.

SuperFlex Design

The Fronius SuperFlex Design combines all the system design requirements into a single inverter form. Two MPP trackers combined with a high system voltage and wide input voltage range guarantee maximum flexibility.  The result: an inverter for every application. Thanks to the SuperFlex Design, a single inverter can cope with any challenge – including different roof orientations, shading of one or two strings, or the use of residual modules.

Dynamic Peak Manager

The Dynamic Peak Manager is a new MPP tracking algorithm searching for the optimal operating point. The special feature is that the Dynamic Peak Manager automatically checks the entire characteristic curve on a regular basis and finds the global Maximum Power Point (GMPP), even in partial shade.

The Fronius Symo (5000W) 5kW Solar Inverter is Smart Grid Ready

Fronius inverters are ready for the Smart Grid of tomorrow. The inverters are optimally equipped to meet the technical requirements of grids in the future. A series of smart functions, known as Advanced Grid Features, are built into the devices. These include a number of control functions for optimum feed-in of reactive power and effective power.

Zero feed-in

In various countries power grid operators require a PV power feed-in limit as a precondition before connection. With dynamic power reduction, Fronius 5000W Symo is offering a solution for optimum feed-in management. The Fronius Symo 5.0-3-M 5kW Solar Inverter allows zero feed-in into the grid. This meaning that no PV power is fed into the grid. The relevant requirements of the grid operator can be fulfilled by simply enabling a setting on the inverter’s web interface.

Fronius Inverters, from the Austrian Fronius are recognized as high performing inverters with higher rate of self- consumption, intelligent control of energy flows and limiting energy export to the grid. Fronius is known for its reliability and high quality products across the globe.

Avoid north facing walls exposed to direct sunlight at midday, while and easterly facing wall, under a small veranda which provides shade is better suited. Inside garages can also be a good spot, as long the solar inverter is away from direct sunshine for prolonged periods of the day.

As a general rule of thumb, the size of your inverter should be similar to the DC rating of your solar panel system; if you are installing a 6 kilowatt (kW) system, you can expect the proposed inverter to be around 6000 W, plus or minus a small percentage. Due to the power losses in your PV system 0Bills DIY Solar Store recommends to install between 15% and 20% higher installed solar panel capacity than the nominal rating of your inverter you intend to purchase.

A grid tie (connected) inverter has a lifespan ranging from 10 to 20 years. You should expect most good quality units to last 10 years minimum. Solar inverters have warranties ranging from 5 to 12 years with an increasing number of manufacturers offering pay for service warranty extension. From our experience as closer the cumulated Maximum Voltage of your solar panels to the Max Input Voltage of the grid tie inverter the shorter the life of the power inverter you have. We recommend that that your strings maximum voltage to be around 10% less than the allowed input voltage of your inverter.

Your Inverter Can Handle The Extra Panel Capacity to a certain extend ONLY! Provided the system is properly designed, they have no problems greatly exceeding this limit safely. What inverter manufacturers care about is that the voltage and current entering the inverter never at any point exceed their specified limits. With all that said it is strongly recommended to pay attention to the max voltage of your inverter!

All of Fronius’ inverters are manufactured in Austria, EU. All Fronius products from the solar power inverter range come with CE certification and are fully certified for USA and Australian markets as well.

It is like asking which car is better: BMW or Mercedes? While Fronius has a wider offer of size ranges, SMA has a higher average efficiency rating and lower price point. Though, it may be worth comparing prices if multiple inverters are required under SMA, there may be a single inverter option with Fronius. With all this said both are Tier 1 solar power inverters with superior quality and performance.

The history of the Austrian Fronius begins in 1945. At that time, charging car batteries was not something that could be taken for granted. Günter Fronius was unwilling to accept this. In 1950, Günter Fronius expanded his product portfolio to include welding transformers. Driving forward their growth and internationalization strategy saw the establishment of subsidiaries around the world. In 1992, the decision was taken to focus on the “future field” of solar energy, which is why the company today is split into three strong divisions: Perfect Welding, Solar Energy and Perfect Charging.
