Description

As the central control unit, Phocos MCU Modular Central Unit is a key component of Phocos‘ modular power management family. MCU offers a variety of functions such as priority load management based on user-adjustable voltage thresholds as well as control or alarm functions through an integrated relay control output. This intelligent control unit allows for the synchronization of up to sixteen Phocos power modules (MPPT/MPS) while providing complete system monitoring with integrated datalogging memory.
Phocos MCU Modular Central Unit‘s features open an endless spectrum of system design possibilities and combinations. Customizing your system electronics is as simple as choosing the appropriate Modular Power Management components for the application and assigning their responsibilities. This flexibility eliminates production lead times for customized electronics for standalone power supplies

Modular central unit within the Phocos MPM (modular power management) system

MPM = Phocos Modular Power Management for off-grid systems

The MCU is not a charge controller, it is an modular central unit within the Phocos Modular Power Management (MPM) system. Manages up to 16x components of MPPT / MPS / MCS, compatible with MTS / MRD / MXI. Individual system settings possible via MODCOM software (details below).

Example of Phocos Modular Power Management, based on MCU (as central unit).

As the central control unit, MCU is a key component of Phocos modular power management family (MPM). MCU offers a variety of functions such as priority load management based on user-adjustable voltage thresholds as well as control or alarm functions through an integrated relay control output.

This intelligent control unit allows for the synchronization of up to 16x Phocos power modules MPPT/MPS/MCS (up to 8 MPPT or MPS solar chargers, up to 8 MPS load controllers and up to 4 MCS shunt interfaces) while providing complete system monitoring with integrated datalogging memory. MCU features open an endless spectrum of system design possibilities and combinations.

Customizing your system electronics is as simple as choosing the appropriate Modular Power Management components for the application and assigning their responsibilities. This flexibility eliminates production lead times for customized electronics for standalone power supplies. Synchronizes up to 16 power modules (MPS/MPPT) (up to 8 MPM chargers, up to 8 MPM load switches, up to 4 MCS shunt interfaces).

Main features of the Phocos MCU Modular Central Unit

  • Synchronizes up to 16 power modules (MPS/MPPT) (up to 8 MPM chargers, up to 8 MPM load switches, up to 4 MCS shunt interfaces)
  • Excess energy management
  • Up to five years datalogging memory
  • Relay control output
  • Intelligent load management
  • PC interface
  • Advanced diversion control
  • DIN rail mounting

MODCOM Software
MODCOM configuration software for MCU, quick and easy configuration of individual system parameters and components. The MODCOM requires the MXI-USB or MXI-RS232 interface, for communication between PC and the MCU.

The headquarters of Phocos are located in Ulm, Germany. There are 10 Phocos offices worldwide which enables us to service all of the off-grid market needs.Phocos is a world leading manufacturer of solar-powered charge controllers and various components for off-grid power supply. Our product spectrum is wide, ranging from charge controllers to lighting systems to DC appliances such as refrigerators and freezers. The products developed and produced by Phocos are eco-friendly, energy-saving and the perfect solution for off-grid solar energy systems.Phocos’ roots are in extensive research. In the mid-1980’s, engineers in Germany at Ulm University of Applied Sciences developed new technologies for charge controllers. In 2000, some of these researchers took their research and founded Phocos. To this day, Phocos maintains a close relationship with Ulm University of Applied Sciences in the field of off-grid power supply. The founders of Phocos set their sights particularly on off-grid applications which are solar-powered isolated applications with no connection to the central power grid. The demand for off-grid solar-power systems is continuously on the rise in the world’s various industries. The demand is also very high in the rural regions of developing and emerging economies. This trend is due to lower installation and operation costs, sustainability and the convenience of mobile application options. Join our ZERO Home Bills Community.
