SOLiC 200 – Zero export threshold explained
Earthwise Products Ltd – manufacturer of the award-winning SOLiC 200 – is proud to announce a new document to help explain the benefit, importance and relevance of a zero export threshold.
Iain McRitchie, Managing Director at Earthwise Products ltd, comments, “Having spoken to a number of homeowners and installers about the export thresholds of various solar immersion controllers, it became apparent that many hadn’t fully understood its importance.”
Iain continues, “If you think of the export threshold as a dripping tap, every kilowatt of energy that is exported unnecessarily is losing you money. Many devices have a threshold of at least 100W before they start to divert energy to the immersion. However, the SOLiC 200 has a zero export threshold – so homeowners can gain up to £1500 in hot water by installing a SOLiC 200 rather than a device with a 100W threshold.”
The explanation of export thresholds can be found on the Earthwise home page.
The SOLiC 200 automatically provides free hot water from new and existing PV panels, by offering the home’s excess solar energy to the immersion heater circuit instead of allowing it to be exported to the grid.

The SOLiC 200 is the most efficient device of its kind on the market as it operates with a zero export threshold – saving hundreds of pounds more than its main competitors over its lifetime.
The SOLiC 200 is manufactured in the UK and complies with CE and British Standards. The unit has been engineered to last the life of a solar installation (25 years) and includes a reassuring 10-year return-to-base guarantee as standard.
