The effects of the Coronavirus COVID19 on Solar Panels
Unfortunately the Coronavirus COVID-19 has an effect on the solar panel stocks both in Europe and USA. Especially that both Europe and the USA just entering the full solar season of the calendar year. Since majority of the solar panel brand and/or the solar cells used for solar panel manufacturing are manufactured in China the actual situation does not look good at all.
According to the major solar panel manufacturers like JA Solar, Canadian Solar, Jinko Solar there will be further delays. Models manufactured in Europe, USA, Taiwan, Japan and Korea are not effected yet.
The effects of the Coronavirus COVID19 on Solar Panels – what you need to know?
- some of the solar factories are shut down, some operate at reduced capacity
- even the ones operating at normal capacity, facing both national or international logistical issues
- major sea freight carriers are keeping their ships on hold in various maritime ports in Asia, since financially makes no sense to send half packed ships around the globe
- due to the above issues created by COVID-19; there is lack of shipping containers available for packing, which further creates a major issue at solar panel manufacturing side.
- the coronavirus hysteria (in our view) will continue to create severe disturbance in the entire supply chain of solar panels effecting every single solar panel importer, distributor, reseller or installer.
- solar panel manufacturers the delays effecting both actual products and new product launch will be in place for another 8-12 weeks.
Effects of the Coronavirus. Fine. What I can do as a customer/end user?
- check the availability of the selected solar panel (IN STOCK) above the Add to Cart button on every product page
- call your account manager and have her/him double checking the live stock in our warehouse
- to save our finance department from an extra load you can and you should hold your payment until the stock is confirmed.
What other products or services are effected by the virus outbreak?
- we do not see an issue yet on the solar inverters, but definitely some of the solar battery systems are effected. Mainly BYD and Pylontech. Please double check with your account manager before you place an order.
- yes, we do see an overall logistical issue within Continental Europe. Almost all of our major carriers like DHL, TNT, Dachser and Gerbruder Weiss reported delays.
- as we were informed the actual situation will lead to a slight price increase to some of the destination
