- We have international offices, operating from outside the UK and as such have a diverse supply chain
- We have an entire Supply Chain strategic partners made up of Procurement, Product Managers, Technical Product Managers, and Transport who are experts in import and export
- We have established a Brexit working group made up of senior managers
- As one of the online retailers of Solar PV, ESS and EV charging we have substantial ongoing stock availability in our warehouses, supported both by the manufacturers and major EU and USA importers
- All our partners are significantly increasing the UK stock holding of key products for this period
- Our Supply Chain team ensure all product commodity codes and country of origin codes are accurate
- We have revised our existing group import and export processes for European operations and liaised with our freight agents to mitigate risks and ensure we have the most reliable routes into the UK and not just reliant on individual seaports
Of course we are limited to areas that are within our control and we are committed to mitigating as many risks as possible for our customers so we will continue to monitor and assess the risks and mitigations strategies throughout this uncertain time.
Why do we need to prepare?
From the 31st December 2020, the UK will become independent of the EU and the existing free trade agreements will no longer apply, allowing the UK to negotiate its own trade deals with other countries around the world.
If there are no trade deals in place with a country, the UK will follow WTO terms and levy tariffs, which vary by type of imported goods. Without an agreed EU trade deal, both sides will charge tariffs on imports. The EU will charge its existing external tariffs to imports from the UK, and the UK will charge its new UK Global Tariff (link) to all countries with which we have no trade deal.
Without an EU trade deal, import tariffs of between 0-6% will apply on various elements of solar pv and energy storage systems moving between Europe and the UK after 31st December 2020.
ZEROhomebills.com cannot influence the outcome or prevent potential Customs issues come 1st January 2021 but we can prepare our systems, our data, our freight agents and work with our manufacturing partners to mitigate any risks and provide 0Bills customers with a transparent and informed view to ensure as minimal disruption as possible to your business.
What can you do?
While every business will have its own considerations, you can remove one uncertainty and take control of your supply chain by placing your orders with 0Bills.
